The Sinaia Monastery, located in Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, was founded by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino in 1695 and named after the great Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt. As of 2005, it is inhabited by 13 Christian Orthodox monks led by hegumen Macarie Boguș. It is part of the Archdiocese of Bucharest.


Getting there: Easily accessible, about a 4 minute walk from Casino Sinaia.

Cantacuzino Castle is situated in Bușteni, Romania, in the Zamora district, on the street bearing the same name. It is about a 7 minute drive from Sinaia. The building, whose construction was completed in 1911, was conducted by the architect Grigore Cerchez (1850-1927), a prominent figure of the Neo-Romanian style, at the request of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, who was nicknamed "Nababul" (“The Nabob”). In more recent times, this palace has been featured in the hit TV show, Wednesday.

The Transfăgărășan road or DN7C is a paved mountain road crossing the southern section of the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. It has been named "The Greatest Road In The World" by hit TV series, Top Gear. The road, built in the early 1970s as a strategic military route, connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia. You are almost guaranteed to see brown bears (please do not feed them, or open windows to take pictures!).

The Historical Center of Bucharest, or the Old Town, as it is called by the locals, is one of the most beloved and attractive areas in Bucharest, a place steeped in buildings built in neoclassical and neo-baroque style. Many of these buildings have on the ground floor terraces, cafes, restaurants, and shops, full of foreign tourists, but also locals, most of the year.he architecture is wonderful, and there are many old buildings to see and lots of shops and restaurants. You can walk into the Old Town anywhere in central Bucharest. If coming from further afield, take the metro to either Piata Unirii or Universitate. The easiest way to arrive from OTOPENI AIRPORT to Bucharest Old Town is via the 100 Express Bus (tickets are $1 and can be purchased via credit card tap, ApplePay, etc., directly on the bus).
